Here in Gaston County, we are blessed with rolling hills, expansive skies, thick foliage and running waterways. The landscape found from Mount Holly all the way to Cherryville provides the perfect spaces for outdoor adventures and fun and, specifically, the space for numerous inviting golf courses.


Across the region, there are all different kinds of places to get your clubs swinging. From private golf and country clubs, public courses and relaxing driving ranges, here is your guide to golf in Gaston County and our surrounding areas.


Gaston County Golf

Cherryville Golf and Country Club - Anna Naphtali, Gaston Outside

If you're looking to play a quick round of golf close to home, you can stay right here in Gaston County. There are five courses, ranging from formal to informal, in Gaston County with beautiful fairways and greens waiting for you.


Catawba Creek Golf Course

Daily 8 a.m.-6 p.m.


Managed by the City of Gastonia, Catawba Creek is an idyllic course with a welcoming energy. Large pine trees surround the clubhouse giving the course an epic landscape. With competitive prices for the area, Catawba Creek's already affordable prices include discounts for seniors and kids under the age of 14. On top of the 18-hole course, Catawba Creek also has a driving range and putting green available to golfers. Call 704-866-6945 to reserve a tee time.


Cherryville Golf and Country Club

Daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m.


A member only course, the Cherryville Golf and Country Club offers many different membership options, including full, senior, seasonal and social memberships. Aside from their 9-hole golf course, Cherryville's Club has a 15 tee driving range, pool and restaurant.


Cramer Mountain Club

A proudly non-pretentious golf club, the Cramer Mountain Club boasts a challenging 18-hole course with extreme elevation changes surrounded by a mountainous landscape in Cramerton. While this course is not public, there are a couple different membership choices. Members can choose between a full membership, which includes use of the clubs pool, tennis courts, gym and spa, or just have a golf membership.


Gaston Country Club

A gorgeous and pristine course located south of Downtown Gastonia, Gaston Country Club is a premier club for golf, tennis, swim and dining. The golf course, which originally opened in 1958 and was refurbished in 2004, consists of 18 challenging holes for experienced golfers hoping to improve their play. Gaston Country Club is member only, and they have an array of memberships for residents of Gaston County interested in golf memberships or just social memberships.


Green Meadows Golf Course

Green Meadows is a public golf course in Mount Holly with hilly fairways stretching as far as the eye can see. With a friendly staff, Green Meadows is welcoming to all levels of players, and in fact, kids can practice on the driving range for free. There is a no-frills pro shop at this course, offering snacks, sodas and adult beverages so you can relax with a cold one after a round. Call (704) 827-9264 to reserve a tee time.


Hangtime Golf

Monday-Saturday, 10 a .m.-8 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.-7 p.m.


Only operating as a driving range, HangTime is a fun spot to practice your swing, hang out with friends after work (they have stadium lights so guests can practice at night) or take your family on the weekends. The concept is pretty simple—golfers can pay $12 for a large bucket of golf balls or $9 for a small bucket, and then just take their bucket out to the range to hit them until they're all gone. Golfers of all experience levels are welcome at HangTime, they even loan out clubs if you don't have your own.

While there are plenty of great courses right here in Gaston County, there are also many options for golfers looking to get out of town for the day. Head to any of these regional golf destinations to try out a new course, check out a new town and have some fun all around the Carolinas.


Carolina Lakes Golf Club

Carolina Lakes is located in right over the South Carolina border and is under an hour drive from any of Gaston County's municipalities. Tee times can be booked here.


Crowders Mountain Golf Course

255 Lincoln Academy Rd., Kings Mountain

Daily 7 a.m.-8 p.m.


Close to home, Crowders Mountain Golf Course is right near the Gaston County border surrounded by the mountainous terrain. Call 704-739-7681 to reserve a tee time.


Red Bridge Golf and Country Club

6801 Gatehouse Rd., Locust

Daily 7 a.m.-6 p.m.


Located east of Charlotte, Red Bridge Golf and Country Club is approximately an hour away from Gaston County. Tee times can be booked here.


Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation

7500 Olde Sycamore Dr., Charlotte

Daily 7 a.m.-8 p.m.


A semi-private course located in the Mint Hill area of Charlotte, Olde Sycamore is the perfect course to hit if you want to check out Charlotte after your round. Tee times can be booked here.


Tega Cay Golf Club

Daily 7 a.m.-7 p.m.


The region's only 27-hole course, Tega Cay Golf Club is worth the 45 minute or so drive for a long day of exciting golf. Tee times can be booked here.
