Powerlifting Competition: Iron Boy

We've teamed up with the Stowe Family YMCA who will be hosting the Iron Boy Powerlifting National Meet this October!

This two day event will include Bench and Powerlifting competitions with divisions from youth to Masters!

Bliss Gallery's Opening Reception: 

Paintings and Drawings from the Carl Plansky Collection

Bliss Gallery is hosting an opening called, “Paintings and Drawings from the Carl Plansky Collection” and will feature works of art by Carl Plansky and Holy Angels Resident Artists.

 

The book available for sale and signing is called “Carl Plansky, Painter and Paintmaker” by Larry Elder.

Carolina Pro Musica in Concert

Teaming up with the Gaston Arts Council, we're happy to present stories and songs from the past. Everyone likes stories. Carolina Pro Musica brings music from the 1250s to life as they interpret Songs and Stories from Medieval Spain & Germany. Come enjoy early instruments and voices. You might want to sing along!

There will also be an artist spotlight segment (to showcase the variety of art forms by Gaston County artists).

Doors open at 6:00 for food & refreshments. Program begins at 6:30pm.

A Special Announcement from Gaston Aquatics, Inc.

Working collaboratively with public and private partners, Gaston Aquatics, Inc. has a special announcement queued up where they will be revealing the location for an aquatics center in Gaston County! With an aquatics center, Gaston County will benefit as it allows and enables more training opportunities and competitive swim meets to occur year-round while also opening up additional avenues for programming and healthcare uses. This strategically designed project will complement existing facilities throughout Gaston and provide value for our residents and visitors.

Stowe Family YMCA Fall Festival

Follow the yellow brick road to the Stowe Family YMCA Fall Festival! Dress yourselves and the little munchkins in your favorite costumes and come on a magical journey OVER THE RAINBOW! Our Wizard of Oz themed fall festival will be a magical event for the whole family.

Your HEART will fill with joy when your family takes part in face painting, trunk-or-treat, bounce houses, hayrides and yummy treats! Do you have the COURAGE to take a walk on the haunted trail? And don't forget to bring your smarty BRAINS so you can take part in all the fun games too!

Ghost Tours at the Gaston County Museum

Enjoy a lantern lit stroll through the historic Dallas Square as storytellers invoke spirits of gruesome murders and midnight callers. Your guide will spin a spirited, spine-tingling tale of ghost sightings and local folklore- and this year you might get to meet some of the ghosts!

Trick-or-Trail 5k & Fun Run

Lace up your sneakers and get creative on your outfit for a 5K and 1 mile Fun Run on the Sytz Trail at the Warlick Family YMCA. The post race party continues after the race with awards!

The 5K will race through the winding hills and flats of the trail system while the Family Fun Run will follow the River Loop which is relatively flat.

Mount Holly's Lantern Parade

This event will be massive. Over 500 artists, community members, teachers and students will be coming together for a lantern parade in downtown Mt. Holly. 

Participants will be showing off their elaborate creations that fit into the theme of Myths, Fables, and Fairy Tales.
